School-Based Nurse - RN - Alaska Travel Nurse Opportunity

Location: Alaska
Position Type: Full-time, School-Based
Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard school hours

We are seeking a dedicated School-Based Nurse for a full-time position in Alaska. This role will support student health services throughout the school day and help ensure students are safe, healthy, and able to participate in their educational environment.

The nurse will provide direct care to students, respond to health needs and emergencies, maintain documentation, and collaborate with school staff, families, and district nursing leadership. This position is ideal for a nurse who is independent, flexible, and comfortable working in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care to students during the school day.
Assess and respond to illnesses, injuries, and medical concerns.
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district protocols.
Support students with chronic health conditions, individualized health plans, and emergency care plans.
Maintain accurate health records, nursing notes, and required documentation.
Communicate with families, school staff, healthcare providers, and district nursing teams as needed.
Assist with screenings, health education, and student wellness initiatives.
Follow school district policies, state nursing guidelines, and student confidentiality requirements.
Support students during classroom activities, transitions, and school routines as assigned.
Respond calmly and appropriately to medical emergencies.

Requirements:
Must hold an active Alaska nursing license or be eligible for Alaska licensure.
RN candidates may be considered depending on district need.
School-based, pediatric, or public health nursing experience preferred.
Comfortable working independently in a school environment.
Strong documentation, communication, and organization skills required.
Ability to follow individualized health plans, medication orders, and emergency protocols.
Must be dependable, flexible, and comfortable collaborating with school teams and families.
