Position Overview

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for a Fishery Biologist 3/4 (Area Management Biologist) located in Soldotna, Alaska! This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.

• This position serves as the Upper Kenai Peninsula Area Management biologist which supervises all sport fisheries within the management area.
• Monitor sport fisheries in season and issue emergency orders and advisory announcements to achieve sport fishery management objectives.
• Coordinate with various user groups, stakeholders, fishery managers, and research biologists to develop fishery management plans, regulatory proposals, and make recommendations to the Alaska Board of Fisheries.
• Directly supervise an assistant area manager biologist, a maintenance specialist, and two program technicians.
• Serve as the lead Sport Fish Division contact in the Soldotna office.

This permanent full-time position will be based in Soldotna. The Soldotna ADF&G office fosters a cooperative working environment in a vibrant community, and is located near the Kenai River, one of the most popular sport fishing rivers in Southcentral Alaska.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biology, a branch of biology, limnology, biometrics, oceanography, forestry, fisheries science, or natural resource management;
