JOB SUMMARY

The Crane Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining mobile cranes. The crane operator will be required to move, load and unload materials and other large objects for construction and maintenance projects. This position performs daily crane inspections and conducts all work in accordance with load charts and safety requirements. This position will also require you to operate front end loaders and tractor trailers.

Other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Work in accordance with SOP/JHA using Prep Alaska and the 8 lifesaving rules to plan/execute work in a safe and timely manner.
  • Operate cranes to lift, move, load, and unload materials, equipment, and other large objects.
  • Use the load chart to ensure sufficient crane capacity.
  • Maintain radio communication with crew members while observing details on the ground.
  • Observe and follow hand signals from other crew members.
  • Perform daily crane inspections, including cables wire ropes, hooks, slings, and other crane components.
  • Monitor crane operation and identify malfunctions.
  • Ability to safely load, secure and transport equipment and materials to specific work locations with tractor trailers and to operate detachable lowboy trailers.
  • Occasionally rig and/or provide hand signals for other crane operators.
  • Actively participate and promote all safety processes.
  • Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid (U.S issued, Alaska compliant) Class A CDL is required.
  • A current DOT Medical Card is required.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
  • An NCCCO certification or equivalent in TLL (Telescopic Boom Swing Cab) is required.
  • The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience operating RT cranes and tractor trailers is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working as a Crane Operator in a Construction or Industrial setting, the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.
