Solon Center for the Arts Hiring Part-Time Theater Instructor
Solon Center for the Arts is accepting applications for a Part-Time Theater Instructor for upcoming theater classes, summer camps, and productions. Approximately 5-10 hours per week with additional hours for performances, special programs & special events. Hours may increase during the summer for Theater Camps.
Youth Theater Classes | Weekday afternoon and evening
After school Classes | Weekday 2:30 PM – 5 PM (August – May)
Youth Theater Rehearsals | Weekday evenings and Saturdays
Youth Theater Tech Weeks | Tech Rehearsals weekday evenings with shows Friday evening, Saturday afternoon & evening, Sunday afternoon.
Qualified applicants must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Theater from an accredited institution or have related work or performance experience equivalent to such a degree. Knowledge of technical theater a plus. Interested applicants must have a minimum two (2) years of experience working as a youth theater instructor and/or youth theater director, including both plays and musicals preferred. Applicants knowledgeable in any or multiple styles listed are preferred;
improv, acting basics, musical theater, youth theater, etc.
Responsibilities include:
- Create lessons, plan, prepare and instruct classes
- Assist with tech week rehearsals and performances for student productions
- Implement weekly theater camps and classes during summer with small end of camp/class performances
Candidates for this position will work closely with the Theater Department Coordinator and must be able to work with students of all ages and skill levels, with a specific focus on school-aged children. Applicants must be professional and display leadership qualities in and out of the classroom and will be the lead instructor during rehearsals. In addition, the applicant should possess excellent problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Applicants must be able to work in a team environment and adhere to a rehearsal schedule created by the Theater Coordinator. This position offers a starting rate from $28.00/hour. Compensation will be determined based upon previous education, performance, and teaching experience. This position will not exceed 28 hours per week.
