This position assists the site Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, & Sustainability (EHSS&S) Manager in managing, implementing, and executing all programs for environmental compliance, loss control, safety, security, health, fire prevention, emergency response planning and all associated training. Will assist in creating and maintaining programs to meet federal, state, local and corporate environmental safety and health regulations while maintaining the applicable records and documentations demonstrable during an inspection or audit.

Works with all departments, as well as site and corporate EHS, government agencies, industry associations, and peers within our industry.

This will position will report into the EHS Manager and will be full time onsite at our Solon, OH location.

What we're looking for:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, industrial technology, or related field preferred
  • Experience: At least two (2) to three (3) years of practical EHS experience in a manufacturing environment. At least five (5) years of EHS experience without a degree in related field
  • Preferred Experience: Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) credential is preferred
Who you are:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools and MS365 Apps
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to use Mathematics, Logic, and Reasoning
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking (small to medium-sized groups)
  • Understanding of Chemistry and chemical properties is preferred
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator on the job (as needed)
  • Possess a professional safety certification or ability to obtain one within the first six (6) months of employment
  • Office environment:
    Constant sitting while using the computer. Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents. Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication. Must be able to function well under peak activity periods.
How you will thrive and create an impact:
  • Assist in support and managing programs, policies, and compliance related to corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Has and continues to develop a working knowledge of all applicable federal and state, local regulations, as well as corporate guidelines and policies; educates plant staff and ensures compliance of said requirements.
  • Assists with creating effective training programs that satisfy Site needs and helps to improve understanding of all EHS requirements.
  • Provides training (formal and informal) to employees, supervisors and managers on safety policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste (RCRA) generator requirements and ability to help with chemical waste management at the facility.
  • Supports and updates the emergency response programs for site.
  • Provides EHS orientation for all new employees as well as all contractors and visitors.
  • Serves as an EHSS&S representative at the Site.
  • Works with the Employee Safety Committee at the site to enhance and maintain our culture.
  • Performs Gemba walks, inspections, and audits as required.
  • Assist in incident and injury investigations and able to perform root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Maintain a presence on the operations floor and provide feedback/coaching regarding unsafe acts and behaviors.
  • Able to effectively communicate regulatory and corporate EHS requirements and expectations to the Site personnel.
  • Assists in managing aspects of security for the Site.
  • Maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently with some oversight as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned (including support of EHS activities on the off shifts).
