Production Manager, Quality Engineering
We are seeking a Plant Manager to oversee all departments, ensuring efficient operations, quality, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Manage and direct activities of department managers and plant staff by developing and reviewing operating plans, establishing objectives to ensure productivity, quality, cost control, and scheduling goals.
- Coordinate plant and division/corporate resources to resolve material, process, and production problems.
- Partner with the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to ensure a safe environment for all employees and visitors by developing and implementing a comprehensive safety and emergency response program, effective training of all employees, and compliance with all federal, state and local laws.
- Develop and implement annual operating plans and timely resolve deviations from budget to meet financial objectives of the plant.
- Direct and organize all plant departments to ensure adequate supply of high-quality products, implementing quality manufacturing processes and control programs to meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Develop effective plant operations, optimize production schedules, continually improve production efficiencies, scrap rates and product quality throughout the operation and support the Six Sigma/Lean process.
- Provide leadership and direction to all Plant personnel.
- Contribute to the overall growth and development of the company through effective communication with sales and technical groups and provide manufacturing expertise to the successful development of new products and processes.
- Promote positive labor relations inside and outside the plant by ensuring consistent application of company policies and provide leadership to managers and supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate support of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
- Demonstrate commitment to GPI’s continuous improvement efforts including LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma, and related programs and processes.
- Be the Quality Mode Element Owner for Operational Strategy.
- Provide all employees the ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.
- Provide all employees the ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
- Ensure that Management will provide the resources required to implement and manage the SQF system.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Must have eight or more years’ experience in a folding carton packaging industry or similar manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated financial acumen with full P&L ownership experience in a manufacturing environment supporting at least $50 million in annual revenue and volume.
- Superior management/leadership skills.
- Foresight, creativity, sense of urgency, and good organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
- Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
- Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
- Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
- Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
