In this position, you will ensure uninterrupted production flow in the assigned process, provide troubleshooting support, and coach/on‑the‑job training to employees to meet daily department goals.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as primary backup to the Production Supervisor for all assigned departments.
- Provide documentation to support the Production Supervisor in managing performance concerns and recognizing exceptional performance.
- Complete various audits on production, safety, and quality processes.
- Communicate with the team as the first point of contact in the escalation procedure.
- Coach, guide, develop, and train employees to meet production goals and improve skillsets.
- Apply Lean methodologies and lead MDI, 5S, Waste Elimination, and Kaizen activities.
- Lead a continuous improvement culture by involving employees in problem solving and decision making, and recognizing exceptional work.
- Lead production processes by assigning work, removing roadblocks, and collaborating with resources to meet daily production, safety, quality, and delivery goals.
- Coordinate the movement of material and information into, within, and out of the assigned work area as needed.
- Collaborate with leadership and department stakeholders to ensure all teams are aligned on production status and resolve issues promptly.
- Report and assist in resolution of product, process, or machine issues, and in safety and quality non‑conformities.
- Run and troubleshoot machinery; adjust setup and troubleshoot process to resolve non‑conformances.
- Adjust staffing and workflow in response to material, machine, or labor changes.
- Lead safety, quality, and performance standards; assist in resolving data integrity issues on manufacturing orders and production databases.
- Maintain accurate records and inventory balances.
- Advise on and enforce all safety procedures, quality specifications, and 5S standards.
- Help resolve adverse conditions, non‑conforming products, and 5S violations.
- Identify production, process, or resource roadblocks and help resolve them across assembly processes.
- Implement continuous improvement recommendations and participate actively in improvement activities.
- Assist the department supervisor with shift start‑up, daily attendance, first piece inspections, machine set‑up and troubleshooting, employee assignments, and training.
- Create and populate Excel spreadsheets to report daily production and attendance; track schedules for assembly, automation, and packing.
- Participate in GIMBA and daily production meetings; assist material handlers as needed; operate PIT and stand‑up.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 8+ years of manufacturing or production work experience.
- Ability to bend, squat, reach above the head, climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
- Experience leading in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment and meeting operational deadlines.
- Competence in escalating, troubleshooting, and resolving non‑conforming machine, process, product, or environmental issues.
- Strong coaching, training, and development skills as a leader of an agile workforce.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a positive attitude.
- Detail‑oriented with the ability to identify discrepancies in parts, process, or paperwork.
- Effective computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
