Solon Schools’ Food & Nutrition Services offers both permanent and substitute positions in a fast‑paced, rewarding environment. Cafeteria workers are responsible for the preparation, serving, and clean‑up of daily school lunches, while providing students with a positive eating environment and outlook on healthy foods.

Substitute employees gain flexibility in scheduling and the option to work at each school in the district. Substitute openings are often scheduled in advance, but opportunities also arise for last‑minute call‑ins.

Schedule- 10‑month position (August‑June), follows district calendar
- Monday‑Friday, 10:00AM‑1:30PM or 9:45AM‑1:15PM (3.5 hours)
- $15.74‑$19.33, based on prior experience
- Substitute hourly pay: $15.74
- Shall be able to read and follow directions and relate well with fellow employees, students, and staff.
- Shall demonstrate competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Shall present neat in appearance and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Cafeteria Manager & Food Service Supervisor

General ResponsibilitiesAssist in an efficient food service program which provides food of high nutritious quality and attractiveness in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal care.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of food portions and prepares hot and cold cafeteria serving counter.
- Review menu for service and instructions from the Cafeteria Manager for any variations that might occur.
- Maintain adequate supply of all serving utensils as required for the day's menu.
- Maintain all food supplies for necessary lunch periods using judgment and discretion during final lunch period.
- After each lunch serving period, assist in the kitchen as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager in the cleaning of utensils, carts, equipment and wiping of counters.
- Serve students and staff from the serving counter, utilizing equal and required portions.
- Assist in maintaining work area, refrigerators, freezers, and stock room in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
- Work productively with your team and provide friendly service to the students.
- Perform other related tasks as required, including duties at special meal functions, as required by the Cafeteria Manager or Food Service Supervisor.
