This role plays a critical part in ensuring warranty policies and procedures are applied consistently and in identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement within warranty operations.
The Dealer Auditor will plan and execute audits, communicate audit findings, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with dealership and corporate stakeholders to drive corrective actions and improve compliance.
This is a field based role with extensive travel and high visibility. Responsibilities
- Conduct audits of dealer warranty claim submissions through detailed review of repair order documentation
- Initiate chargebacks for warranty noncompliance in accordance with established policies
- Prepare, deliver, and maintain audit related communications, including notification letters and detailed audit reports, in line with document retention requirements
- Analyze warranty KPIs and claim submission patterns to identify trends, risks, and early indicators of noncompliance
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring violations and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain ongoing communication and coordination with dealership management, regional operations teams, and corporate partners
- Support compliance with Warranty and Dealer Policy manuals across the dealer network
- Provide training and guidance to dealership and internal personnel to improve warranty compliance
- Assist with additional dealer network initiatives, such as facility inspections and internal audit projects
- Use data analytics to predict, monitor, and improve dealer compliance in warranty related areas
- Bachelor s degree
- 5 7+ years of combined experience, including:
- Automotive retail experience with in depth knowledge of dealership processes, particularly fixed operations
- Automotive technical experience, including diagnostic and repair procedures and technical information systems
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (O365 and online collaboration tools)
- General understanding of the franchised dealership business model
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and detail oriented skills
- Knowledge of risk management, control objectives, and automated/manual controls
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve differing perspectives and build trust with stakeholders
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing business environment
- Prior audit experience (financial, compliance, operational, or dealership/franchise)
- Experience with automotive OEM dealership management systems
- Experience with highly automated or digital processes (e.g., remote audits, claims processing tools, optical recognition software)
- Experience researching, implementing, or authoring policies, procedures, or technical requirements
- Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or PMP
