About the Role:

The Software Integration and Test Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless integration and robust performance of software systems within manufacturing environments. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans that validate software functionality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including software developers, hardware engineers, and production staff to identify integration challenges and implement effective solutions.

By rigorously testing software components and their interactions with manufacturing equipment, the role helps to minimize downtime and improve overall system efficiency. Ultimately, this position ensures that software products meet quality expectations and support the operational goals of the manufacturing organization.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software integration and testing, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in software testing methodologies, including manual and automated testing techniques.
  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, C++, or Java for test automation purposes.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and version control systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or industrial control software.
  • Familiarity with hardware-software integration and embedded systems testing.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001, IEC 61508, or similar quality and safety standards.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) or related quality assurance credentials.
  • Experience using test management tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain detailed integration and test plans for software systems used in manufacturing processes.
  • Execute manual and automated tests to verify software functionality, performance, and reliability in real-world manufacturing scenarios.
  • Collaborate with software developers and hardware engineers to troubleshoot integration issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Document test results, report defects, and track resolution progress to ensure software quality standards are met.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve software architecture and testability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing test data and recommending enhancements to testing methodologies.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
Skills:

The required skills enable the engineer to design and execute effective test plans that ensure software reliability and integration success within complex manufacturing systems. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages is essential for developing automated test scripts that increase testing efficiency and coverage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are used daily to identify root causes of integration issues and collaborate on solutions with cross‑disciplinary teams.

Knowledge of software development processes and version control supports seamless coordination with developers and helps maintain code quality. Preferred skills such as familiarity with manufacturing systems and industry standards enhance the engineer’s ability to align testing practices with operational requirements and regulatory compliance.
