This position requires knowledge of purchasing and inventory control with an energetic work ethic able to adapt with changing priorities. Daily job requirements remain consistent but can change as assigned by the Materials Manager. Must be able to work closely with others in a team atmosphere on various projects as assigned. Daily duties will include, but are not limited to, entering of purchase orders placed, search O.E.M.s and independent parts sources for certified and traceable product at the best price, meeting parts need‑by‑date requirements, completing new parts returns in a timely manner.
Work closely with Materials Manager to maintain set dollar amount on inventory level. Multiple airframes or specific component groups are assigned to each Purchaser with numerous aircraft within each airframe or group on site or scheduled for future work at any given time.
- Place orders for request parts.
- Coordinate with shipping on outside work requests.
- Work with vendors to maintain competitive pricing and delivery dates.
- Work within West Star repair station manual guidelines to maintain certified and traceable parts.
- Provide product pricing and availability to requestor.
- Coordinate product status with requestor.
- Research and maintain inventory stock requirements.
- Any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
A High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
Prior purchasing or inventory control experience is preferred. Aviation specific experience in purchasing parts is ideal but not required.
Having previous computer experiences with mainframe and PC databases, internet use, and working with numbers/calculations is a must.
Skills & AttributesWe’re looking for team players who are self‑motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Must be well organized, have a high attention to detail, strong written/verbal/analytical and interpersonal skills and the capability to work with minimal supervision.
Responsibility Expectations- Attend work every day as scheduled.
- Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
- Shop products and/or services for competitive pricing.
- Maintain high standards of certification and traceability of all parts and product purchased.
- Analyze stock requirements to maintain mandated levels.
- Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
- Lifts 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending and use of stairs.
Sit at a desk and/or computer for extended intervals. - Work with others in a professional manner.
- Prioritize workload.
- Work with new or upgraded computer systems.
- Work under supervision of the Materials Manager.
- May be directed to supervise other purchasers on specific projects.
- Work with minimal supervision.
This is a full‑time position working in an office environment.
Equipment UsedMainframe database, PC Computer, telephone, FAX and calculator.
