Introduction

The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC), is recruiting for the position of Correctional Captain at Mac Dougall-Walker CI in Suffield and Osborn CI in Somers.

Position Highlights

These positions are full-time, 40-hours per week. Openings are available on first, second, and third shift (to be determined by the needs of the Agency.) These positions work on a 5x2, Monday-Friday schedule.

This class supervises a large staff of correctional personnel engaged in custody and security operations.

Correctional Captain responsibilities include:
  • Assumes delegated responsibility for custody and security of assigned inmates, buildings, grounds and operations;
  • Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work of staff;
  • Coordinates, plans and manages training activities;
  • Ensures consistent enforcement of policies and procedures;
  • Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures.
