This position is full-time, following a first shift schedule, 35 hours a week, Monday - Friday, and 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
The role is located at Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers, CT.
As a Staff Radiological Technologist you will perform technical radiographic procedures.
You will apply independent judgment to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis.
You will also produce radiographs and provide immobilization devices.
Purpose of Job Class (Nature of Work)In a state facility or institution this class is accountable for performing technical radiographic procedures.
Examples of Duties- Performs a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis;
- Produces radiographs;
- Positions individuals;
- Provides immobilization devices;
- Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis;
- Selects and operates equipment as directed;
- Develops film by automatic and manual processing;
- Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards;
- Practices sterile techniques and applies infection control policies;
- Maintains adequate records;
- Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area;
- Secures and returns special equipment;
- Assists physician in administering opaque media;
- Assists in performing first aid as necessary;
- May be responsible for delegated areas or performance of special procedures;
- May perform preventive maintenance and quality assurance measurement of equipment;
- May operate patient monitoring equipment such as an electrocardiograph;
- Performs related duties as required.

- Follow oral and written instructions.
Must meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists and hold current Connecticut state license.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working with Correctional or Forensic population.
Working ConditionsIncumbents in this class may be required to lift and position individuals and may be exposed to radiation, moderately disagreeable conditions and occasionally to infectious and/or communicable diseases.
