The Probation and Parole District Supervisor is a District-Wide supervisory position within the Division, in which Probation and Parole Assistant Supervisors, Probation and Parole Officers, Investigators and Office Support Staff report to. This position is primarily administrative in nature, with a span of control to include district and, or, field offices within specific geographic areas and staff assigned to those areas.
Employees within this position report directly to the Regional Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Tracking and recording of accurate time and attendance for employees
- Monthly Reports
- Ensuring continued compliance with accreditation standards and correctional policies
- Auditing of Officer caseloads with corrective measures
- Evaluations and interims of staff
- Documentation approval
- Inventory control
- Supervising Field Training Officer Duties
- Supervising Interstate Compact processing duties
- Supervising Non-Personnel Agency Training Administrator duties
- Assigned committee and various statewide team duties
- Compliance team members
The ideal candidate will have:
- The ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to bilaterally achieve objectives across organizational boundaries.
- Be able to multitask with a proven history of sound decision making in high stress situations.
- The ability to think critically and analyze data to forecast positive outcomes.
- The ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of the Department and Division.

Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, ORSKILLS:
Must have five years of professional experience in probation work and/or parole work, criminal justice, corrections, law enforcement, social work dealing with the rehabilitation of offenders, public administration, or a closely related field.
Substitute EDUCATION forEXPERIENCE:
Graduate study in law enforcement, criminal justice, corrections, behavioral sciences, social work, public administration, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
Substitute EXPERIENCE forEDUCATION:
Experience in probation work and/or parole work, corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice, social work dealing with the rehabilitation of offenders, or in the supervision and care of young adults (ages 12-21) in a residential, correctional, group home, detention or day treatment program or any combination of the above will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIALREQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
Must be 21 years of age. Will be required to carry and/or use a firearm; applicant must not be prohibited from the purchase, receipt, or possession of firearms, ammunition, or both pursuant to applicable federal or state law while employed in this job classification; applicant must demonstrate competence with a firearm by successful completion of all required firearms safety training courses offered or approved by the hiring agency.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Work typically involves the supervision of probation and parole officers. Work is typically performed in an office setting or in a public forum.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
