Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool – Nights | Full Time | 6:30-7:00 | Rotating Weekends
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is part of Lifepoint Health, a decentralized healthcare delivery network. As an RN in our Float Pool you will provide compassionate care to patients across multiple inpatient units while assisting with staffing needs on nights and rotating weekends. The role offers a commitment bonus of $20,000 for a two‑year employment commitment—one year required on nights.
Position OverviewThe RN will:
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice across multiple inpatient units.
- Perform plan‑of‑care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and related medical care.
- Document care provided in a timely, accurate manner.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Assist with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
- Display initiative and flexibility to float throughout the building to support departments and staff.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
- Assess learning needs; provide age‑ and culture‑appropriate patient/family education.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients.
- Participate in performance improvement and required education; work other shifts/units as needed and may take on‑call assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biological/chemical hazards may be present.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, kneeling; rare running or climbing.

- Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand).
- Completion of the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
- Associate’s degree in nursing required; bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- 1–2 years minimum bedside RN experience required; 2–4 years critical care experience preferred.
- Current RN license in state of practice.
- BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
