Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Post Acute Nursing Unit

Registered Nurse (RN), Post Acute Nursing (Skilled Nursing) Unit

Commitment Bonus: $20,000 for a two‑year commitment (one year commitment on nights). Full‑time nights, 6:30‑7:00, rotating weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process per scope, standards and organizational policies.
  • Under the supervision of the Department Leader and in coordination with the Chief Nursing Officer, plan, delegate and coordinate nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Meet standards of care and practice, act ethically, assist in staff management, and collaborate with ancillary departments and the health‑care team to achieve patient goals and maintain high‑quality care.
  • Assess, plan and evaluate patient/family educational needs and implement teach‑back methods.
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills for adult, geriatric, adolescent and child populations.
  • Document assessments, plans, interventions, educational outcomes and patient/family responses in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with review and completion of daily MDS sections.
  • Identify actual and potential needs/problems through nursing assessment, then prioritize care plans.
  • Supervise and assign patient care duties to LPNs, nursing assistants and unit clerks based on acuity and staff proficiency.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency and life‑threatening situations.
  • Perform medication and treatment administration: IV meds, blood products, hyperalimentation, epidural analgesia, patient‑controlled analgesia and chemotherapy.
  • Utilize, maintain and charge equipment and supplies; check emergency equipment each shift.
  • Maintain a safe environment in line with infection control and safety policies.
  • Receive and follow physician orders, evaluate outcomes, and ensure proper execution per policy.
  • Assist physicians with bedside procedures and other related duties incidental to the role.
  • Observe nursing staff activities, recommend department improvements, and report concerns about equipment or supplies.
  • Communicate with the health‑care team through huddles, briefs, debriefs, bedside reports, nursing care plans and progress notes.
Non‑Essential Functions
  • Assist with AM care and bed baths.
  • Attend staff meetings, in‑services, projects and committees as assigned.
  • Manage supply requests and organize supplies.
  • Key in work orders and order daily dietary supplies.
  • Perform receptionist duties.
  • Work scheduled shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in nursing required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Current RN license to practice in Kentucky.
  • BCLS certification required within 90 days of hire; ACLS preferred for Charge RN positions.
