Registered Nurse; RN Mother Baby​/Special Care Nursery Level II

Registered Nurse (RN), Mother Baby/Special Care Nursery Level II PRN – day and night shift availability.

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Kentucky – part of Lifepoint Health.

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is present for all employees.

Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

• Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice.
• BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, NRP, and Handle with Care preferred.
