Registered Nurse (RN) Behavioral Health PRN
Join a team that prioritizes your well‑being to provide high‑quality behavioral health care. Work in the Adult Psych Unit (18+) and Geriatric Psych Unit (65+) at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, a modern unit equipped with updated safety and ligature points.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients.
- Collaborate with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high‑quality outcomes.
- Perform plan‑of‑care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
- Document patient care promptly and accurately.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
- Coordinate care across disciplines (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
- Assess learning needs and deliver age‑/culture‑appropriate patient and family education.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients.
- Participate in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
- Provide quality patient care and work other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on call.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in nursing (required); bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- BCLS required;
Handle with Care preferred. - Critical thinking and decisive judgment; able to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments.
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems.
- Effective English communication (read, write, speak, understand).
- Ability to successfully complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
