Position Summary
The Pipefitter is responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems used in commercial and industrial construction environments. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, accurately determine piping layouts, and install a variety of piping materials and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant operation. The Pipefitter works collaboratively within a team, prioritizes job site safety, and consistently delivers high-quality workmanship that meets company and customer expectations.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret piping blueprints to determine the layout and specifications for piping systems.
- Run various types and sizes of pipe (e.g., black iron thread pipe, copper pipe, Victaulic pipe, Schedule 40 & 80 PVC, etc.).
- Perform weld, solder, or cement joints on pipes and fittings (a plus).
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers or levels.
- Operate aerial lifts.
- Experienced in an industrial pipe fitting setting.
- Knowledge of blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment, including saws, pipe benders, and welding machines.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to piping systems.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program and relevant certifications in pipe fitting or plumbing (may be required).
- Critical thinking skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
This is very physical, hands‑on work. A Pipefitter must be able to perform activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, including crawling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, occasional walking, and handling materials up to 50 pounds. Work may be performed in confined spaces. Must have good hand‑eye coordination, be able to stand for long periods, and maintain attention to fine detail.
Will work in non‑temperature‑controlled environments and/or outdoors in all types of weather, and on uneven ground or terrain.
