Salary: $57,109 to $102,182 Per Year
Responsibilities- Demonstrates currency in the curriculum.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of the core curriculum for Middle School social studies.
- Frames curriculum around key learning standards and concepts that provide opportunities for reasoning, logic, analysis and synthesis when planning units, lessons, and assessments.
- Keeps current in various content fields and applies that knowledge to the instructional program.
- Contributes to the ongoing evaluation of the curriculum.
- Conducts effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction, including monitoring student understanding and adjusting instruction as appropriate.
- Manages the classroom environment and creates a positive atmosphere for student learning.
- Delivers instruction effectively by making learning goals clear and using appropriate instructional techniques.
- Uses a variety of teaching strategies, including cooperative, peer and project-based learning; audio-visual presentations; lecture; discussions; inquiry; practice and application; and teaching others.
- Uses appropriate questioning techniques.
- Evaluates and refines instructional strategies, including technology use, to increase student learning and confidence.
- Promotes and communicates high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Promotes equity and appreciation of diversity, ensuring equitable opportunities for student learning.
- Fulfills all professional responsibilities: cooperates with parents, shares responsibility for goals, reflects on teaching, and embraces continuous learning.
- Completes any other duties or assignments as directed by the Principal or Content Coordinators.
- MA Educator License, Social Studies 6‑8 and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies.
- Experience or knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and MCAS.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Reports to Principal and Content Coordinators:
Social Studies. - Salary in accordance with the existing bargaining agreement with the Somerset Teachers’ Association.
