SUMMARYAssist in small group and individual pupil instruction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties may be assigned.
- Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Assist teacher with instructional activities.
- Escort students from room to room.
- Toileting students is required.
- Involves work with both special education and regular students.
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
- Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch.
- Assist students with classroom assignments.
- Copy materials for instructional purposes.
- Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
- Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.

Education And/Or ExperienceHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree. Two years of college credit or hold an associate's (or higher) degree; or successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics (Parapro Assessment).
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Computer SkillsBasic knowledge and experience with job-related computer hardware and software applications.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OtherSkills And Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community; ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Physical DemandsPhysical demands: regularly required to sit, talk or hear; stand, walk, climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; push items of fifty pounds and lift or move up to fifty pounds. Vision required: close, distance and peripheral. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work EnvironmentTypical noise level of classrooms with school children; work throughout the school building, on school grounds, occasionally off campus. Salary and Work HoursSalary:
Per contractual agreement.
Work Hours:
6.5 hours per day (7:50 am-2:50 pm).
As soon as possible for School Year.
