Job Description

JOB GOAL:
To work in a substantially separate classroom with students identified with developmental disabilities

Works with elementary students with developmental disabilities and supports in instructional and non-instructional settings.

Reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the classroom teacher.

Reinforce learning of social/emotional strategies introduced by the classroom teacher and school adjustment counselor and/or school psychologist and other related service providers, i.e. Speech & Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, etc.

Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the student as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.

Perform related duties as directed by the building principal.

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.57 to $24.94 Per Hour

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Two years of College course work (48 credits) /AS Degree required or passing score (464) on the Para Pro Assessment
3. Ability to work effectively with students with special needs, specifically students with developmental/social/emotional/behavioral needs
4. Good communications and interpersonal skills
5. Preference will be given to people are willing to attend training in crisis intervention/restraint and other topics relative to Special Education
REPORTS TO Building Principal
TERMS OF:
In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement with the Somerset EMPLOYMENT Paraprofessional Bargaining Unit
SALARY:
In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement with the Somerset Paraprofessional Bargaining Unit.
WORK YEAR:
As determined by Somerset Paraprofessional Bargaining Unit
