JOB GOAL:
To work in a substantially separate classroom with students identified with developmental disabilities

• Works with elementary students with developmental disabilities and supports in instructional and non-instructional settings.
• Reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the classroom teacher.
• Reinforce learning of social/emotional strategies introduced by the classroom teacher and school adjustment counselor and/or school psychologist and other related service providers, i.e. Speech & Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, etc.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the student as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
• Perform related duties as directed by the building principal.

• QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two years of College course work (48 credits) /AS Degree required or passing score (464) on the Para Pro Assessment
• Ability to work effectively with students with special needs, specifically students with developmental/social/emotional/behavioral needs
• Good communications and interpersonal skills
• Preference will be given to people are willing to attend training in crisis intervention/restraint and other topics relative to Special Education

• TERMS OF:
  In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement with the Somerset Paraprofessional Bargaining Unit
• HOURLY RATE: $16.25 per hour for first twenty days in the positions, then comparable hourly rate based on experience and education.
