Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a non‑profit organization supporting adult individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities by providing them with residential, vocational, recreation, and day support services. This part‑time position requires substituting in one or more of our day programs to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Services include, but are not limited to, assisting individuals, promoting personal growth, helping them reach goals through daily activities, providing personal care, and attending community and social activities.
The role is for a Direct Support Professional (DSP).

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years old.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

- Transport individuals to and from programs and activities, when required.
- Administer medications and treatments, meeting all guidelines and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Create a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect, able to exercise their rights and responsibilities, and protected from abuse or neglect.
- Electronically record daily activities, maintaining confidentiality and complying with all policies and procedures to protect identity, medical, and HIPAA information.
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in‑person and online).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May include extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking, with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, or kneeling.
- Possibly lift at least 25 pounds, push or pull varying weights (including wheelchairs), or safely transfer approximately 35 pounds.
