Overview

Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a non-profit organization supporting adult individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities by providing them with Residential, Vocational, Recreation and Day Support Services. This is a part-time role:
Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 3:00pm (30 hours).

Position: Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the Integrated Activities Day Program. The DSP helps individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities make meaningful progress toward their personal goals in daily activities, providing support and encouragement.

• Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans.
• Transport individuals to and from programs and activities.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with guidelines and maintain accurate documentation.
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and have their rights recognized and safeguarded from abuse or neglect.
• Electronically record daily activities, maintain confidentiality, and comply with all policies and procedures to protect identity, medical, and HIPAA information.
• Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum Requirements:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to obtain Public Passenger Endorsement (PPE) license.

• May include extended periods of standing, sitting, walking with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, kneeling.
• Positions may require the ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push/pull varying weights (wheelchairs) or safely transfer up to ~35 pounds.
