Dance Specialist

The Dance Specialist is responsible for the supervision of campers, dance instruction, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers. Activity Specialists also have the opportunity to work extended hours doing lessons for additional income. Essential job responsibilities include:

• Ensuring safety of campers and team members
• Enforcing all rules and regulations
• Daily supervision of the area
• Group supervision of campers with attention to behavior and group management, health, safety, security, and personal and skill development
• Daily dance instruction to campers between the ages of 3 and 15 with different ability levels (teach them dance routines for our big production!)
• Using effective management skills to lead the activity and effectively create an inclusive and fun environment
• Motivating campers by creating fun for them in your activity (i.e. dances, songs, games, cheers, etc.)
• Encouraging creativity and critical thinking
• Working effectively with fellow Activity Specialists and Counselors; collaborating on daily responsibilities
• Serving as a positive role model to campers
• Being able to work outside, upright and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day
• Having outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community
• Having dance instruction experience (required)
• Reporting directly to and taking direction from the Creative Division Head.

Oak Crest Day Camp is located in Franklin Township. Our campers and staff join us from:
Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Warren, Watchung, Basking Ridge, Belle Mead, Bound Brook, Branchburg, Colonia, Cranbury, East Brunswick, Edison, Flemington, Fords, Franklin Park, Green Brook, Highland Park, Kendall Park, Martinsville, Metuchen, Middlesex, Milltown, Monmouth Junction, Neshanic Station, North Brunswick, New Brunswick, Piscataway, Princeton, Princeton Junction, Raritan, Scotch Plains, Skillman, Somerset, Westfield, Whitehouse Station and Woodbridge.

In many cases we can arrange to transport you to and from camp. Camp dates:
June 29 – August 21 (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:15pm) no camp Friday July 3rd. No nights or weekends!
