Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free, public charter school in Somerset, New Jersey serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. CJCP is a recipient of many awards and designations such as: USDOE Blue Ribbon Award, 2016 NJDOE Tier-I Charter School, US News Best High Schools, 2015 - 2024 National Charter School, 2020 College Board AP Honor Roll, 2023 - 2024 College Board AP Capstone School, 2020 - 2024 Great Schools College Success Award, % graduation rate, % acceptance rate into four-year colleges and universities since 2011.
The mission of CJCP is to provide academic and social opportunities for students to attain the skills necessary for success in post-secondary education. CJCP serves its mission by offering rigorous educational programs with an emphasis on college preparation, college and career counseling, and extracurricular enrichment activities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Deliver comprehensive Art education to students, fostering creativity, and developing artistic skills.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that introduce students to various art forms, techniques, and art history that align with New Jersey learning standards.
- Regularly assess student progress through assignments, projects, and observations, providing feedback to support artistic development.
- Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment that encourages creativity and active participation.
- Manage art materials and resources to ensure they're properly used and maintained.
- Organize and engage in extracurricular activities like field trips to art museums, contests, art exhibitions to enhance students' appreciation and exposure to art outside of the classroom.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and curriculum developments in art education.
Essential Duties:
- Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality.
- Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures.
- Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
- Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communication.
- Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction.
- Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven communication and instructional strategies.
- Classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid NJ CE, CEAS, or Standard Teacher Certification.
- NJ Criminal History.
- Work authorization in the U.S.
- Tuberculosis Test.
- Experience is a plus.
