The Manufacturing Engineering Associate plays a key role in improving material flow, reducing clutter, and eliminating missing materials to support production schedules on the manufacturing floor. This position ensures that all required parts are available, clearly identified, and arranged in the order they will be consumed for each tool in production. The role serves as a critical link between the warehouse, receiving dock, inventory team, planners, and production assemblers to keep materials correctly staged and available when needed.

The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, hands-on inventory experience, and a leadership presence that helps maintain structure, discipline, and accountability across the production floor.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and stage production materials in the exact order they will be consumed for each tool build.
  • Receive and coordinate material flow from the receiving dock to production bays and assembly stations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and clearly identified staging areas throughout the manufacturing floor.
  • Ensure materials, bins, carts, racks, and staging locations are properly labeled and easy to identify.
  • Support production teams by communicating incoming material availability, build priorities, and any potential delays.
  • Work closely with warehouse, planning, inventory, and production teams to locate missing, misplaced, or lost materials.
  • Monitor material levels on the production floor and identify excess inventory that creates clutter, safety concerns, or workflow disruptions.
  • Coordinate with planners and warehouse personnel regarding material shortages, schedule changes, and delivery priorities.
  • Support Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) activities and hardware management to ensure consistent material availability.
  • Apply 5S and workplace organization principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain a structured production environment.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve floor organization, material flow, labeling systems, and staging methods.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and help reduce Missing In Action (MIA) materials through disciplined tracking and follow-up.
  • Assist with the movement of materials supporting cleanroom operations through designated pass-through systems.
  • Follow all safety, quality, inventory control, and company procedures while handling and moving materials.
  • Use ERP and inventory systems to track parts, review work orders, monitor inventory, and support material flow activities.
  • Escalate material shortages, delays, and discrepancies in a timely manner to prevent production interruptions.
  • Take ownership of the organization of the production floor and drive continuous improvement in material handling processes.

Essential

Skills:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, stockroom, inventory, logistics, or production support environment.
  • Hands-on experience handling, staging, tracking, organizing, and moving materials and inventory.
  • Material flow and inventory control experience in a warehouse, stockroom, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to create and maintain structure in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working with work orders, inventory systems, material tracking tools, or production documentation.
  • ERP system experience, preferably with SAP, to track parts, review work orders, and monitor inventory.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and ERP system usage.
  • Ability to apply 5S and workplace organization principles to maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Effective communication skills to work with warehouse, production, planning, inventory, and assembly teams.
  • Experience identifying missing or misplaced parts and resolving inventory discrepancies to support production schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to support production schedules and prevent delays caused by material availability issues.
