As a Quality Engineer (QMS), you will drive the maturity, consistency, and effectiveness of our enterprise Quality Management System across multiple sites and product lines. This is more than a compliance role—you'll be a systems thinker and change agent, shaping how quality is embedded into Veeco's operations, enabling business growth, and strengthening customer trust.
You'll partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to build a data-driven, scalable, and audit-ready QMS. This role is ideal for someone ready to expand from execution into ownership, with a clear path toward enterprise QMS leadership and governance.
Location:
Onsite in either Somerset, NJ or Horsham, PA. Relocation Assistance Available.
- Enterprise QMS Excellence
- Own and continuously improve QMS processes to ensure scalability, consistency, and ISO 9001 compliance
- Drive standardization across sites and product lines, reducing variation and increasing system effectiveness
- Govern controlled documentation, ensuring clarity, usability, and compliance
- Audit & Compliance Leadership
- Lead and coordinate ISO certification, surveillance, and recertification audits
- Serve as a primary interface with auditors, customers, and leadership
- Strengthen audit readiness by evolving internal audit programs and closing systemic gaps
- Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Champion a systems-based, data-driven approach to quality improvement
- Lead and mature the CAPA program, ensuring strong root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions
- Apply advanced quality methodologies (8D, FMEA, SPC, 5 Whys) to solve complex, cross-functional challenges
- Data, Insights & Influence
- Define, analyze, and elevate QMS KPIs and performance metrics
- Translate data into actionable insights for senior leadership
- Influence decisions by connecting quality performance to business outcomes
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Embed quality into daily operations by partnering with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain
- Act as a trusted advisor, simplifying complex quality concepts for diverse audiences
- Lead through influence in a matrixed, multi-site environment
QMS processes are standardized, scalable, and consistently executed across sites
Internal and external audits are effectively managed, and any findings are addressed appropriately in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders
CAPAs are timely, effective, and prevent recurrence
Quality data drives proactive decision-making and measurable improvements
Stakeholders view you as a go-to expert and strategic partner in quality
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field
At least 5 years of experience in quality engineering, including hands-on management of an ISO 9001-compliant QMS, participation in internal and external audits, and driving CAPAs that resulted in measurable improvements (e.g., reduced defects or audit findings)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven experience supporting or leading external audits and compliance efforts
Strong knowledge of CAPA, internal audits, QMS documentation, and metrics systems
Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed organization
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
Systems thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence
Strong analytical capability, comfortable turning data into insight and action
High ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives end-to-end
Preferred ExperienceSemiconductor, capital equipment, or high-tech manufacturing environments
ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Experience with SAP Quality Module or similar ERP/QMS systems
Salary and BenefitsThe expected salary range for this position is $84,223—$118,207, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay. Other benefits include:
