The position is responsible for managing daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, productivity, efficiency, material utilization, on-time delivery, and quality standards while managing staff and production schedules. The role focuses on leading, coordinating, and aligning operational resources around employee safety, product quality, order delivery, cycle time, productivity, and material utilization to achieve company goals.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and drive implementation and adherence to all safety protocols and regulations across the site, taking proactive actions to reduce exposure and promote a safety culture among all employees.
  • Ensure manufacturing capabilities and performance meet or exceed industry and customer requirements for cost, volume, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Manage workforce to support changing demands. Develop, implement, and optimize cross-training and labor shortage contingency plans within and across value streams.
  • Develop quantitative and strategic action plans and metrics that support safety, quality, delivery, and service level improvements.
  • Manage staff with emphasis on accountability and effectiveness; set performance objective goals for direct reports aligned with plant objectives.
  • Identify training needs, initiate staff development, and recommend effective personnel actions; mentor and lead employees with a hands-on approach.
  • Lead change management and improvement initiatives to ensure employee engagement and understanding.
  • Drive lean manufacturing and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to reduce cost of goods sold and enhance business profitability.
  • Utilize data and established metrics to identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Align manufacturing work systems and management practices with established best practices and company global manufacturing standards.
  • Provide operational support to the plant s leadership teams and operational support resource teams.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are well understood and adhered to by all employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Business, Engineering, or technical discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies, with demonstrated experience applying them to drive operational excellence. Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of Strategy Deployment methodology.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization.
  • Proven ability to motivate, train, and develop skill sets for manufacturing supervision, manufacturing technical resources, and manufacturing production staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and effectively influence decision-making.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced organization with optimism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Oracle (ERP), SPC programs, etc.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to other company locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in plastics and extrusion operations, as well as discrete and discontinuous manufacturing processes.
  • Experience leading the definition and implementation of automation strategies/solutions to enhance productivity per person.
