Job Description & How to Apply Below

Founded in 2011 and located in New Hampshire, Solid Machine specializes in precision CNC turning and 5-axis milling of complex rotating components, including impellers and other turbo machinery hardware for the aerospace, defense, energy, automotive, oil & gas, and industrial markets. Our work involves challenging materials, complex geometries, tight tolerances, and high-value components where machining knowledge, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail matter.

Job Summary:

Solid Machine is looking for an experienced Senior CNC Lathe Machinist who can independently take ownership of complex turning work from setup through finished part. This is not a basic CNC operator position. The right candidate will be comfortable setting up and machining large-diameter, high-value precision components and will have the experience to troubleshoot machining problems, select tooling and cutting parameters, make program adjustments, and continuously improve the manufacturing process.

For an exceptional candidate, this position also offers the opportunity to lead and supervise our CNC lathe team. We are willing to compensate accordingly for someone who combines advanced machining ability with proven leadership skills.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft, enjoys solving difficult machining problems, and wants to be part of a growing manufacturing operation where strong machining skills and initiative are recognized and valued.

Why Join Us?

Competitive Pay: $32.00 - $48.00 / hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill

Core Responsibilities
  • CNC Setup & Operation: Independently set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture complex, high-precision components.
  • Programming & Troubleshooting: Read, edit, troubleshoot, prove out, and optimize CNC programs at the machine.
  • Process Development: Select appropriate tooling, inserts, work holding, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies for challenging materials and part geometries.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve cycle time, setup time, tool life, part quality, and overall machine productivity.
  • Precision Machining: Consistently produce components requiring extremely tight tolerances, including tenths-level work.
  • Inspection: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T and independently inspect your work using precision measuring equipment.
  • Job Ownership: Take responsibility for assigned jobs from initial setup through final part, including quality, tooling performance, documentation, and production efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain and improve setup sheets, tooling lists, and manufacturing processes to ensure repeatable results.
  • Problem Solving: Diagnose issues involving chatter, tool life, dimensional variation, surface finish, work holding, and process stability and determine effective corrective actions.
  • Team Development: Share machining knowledge and help train and develop less-experienced machinists.
  • Leadership Opportunity: For candidates with the appropriate experience, provide day-to-day technical leadership and supervision of the CNC lathe team, helping establish priorities, maintain accountability, and improve department performance.
  • Equipment Care: Maintain a clean, organized work area and perform routine preventative maintenance.
