Purpose Statement
The job of SEI District Teacher is done for the purpose/s of providing state-required Targeted English Language Development (ELD) instruction to English Learner students in accordance with Arizona's Structured English Immersion (SEI) Model; accelerating English language acquisition and academic achievement; providing students with equitable access to grade-level content; collaborating with school staG to strengthen implementation of eGective English Learner instructional practices;
supporting teachers through instructional modeling, collaborative planning, coaching, and professional learning related to Targeted ELD instruction; and monitoring student progress to improve instructional outcomes.
- Assists with planning and implementation of the Targeted English Language Development (ELD) block in collaboration with the EL Specialist and site administration for the purpose of ensuring instruction is aligned to the Arizona English Language Proficiency Standards and meets the language development needs of English Learners.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers, site administration, the EL Specialist, and the Instructional Services Director for the purpose of delivering Targeted ELD instruction, supporting instructional planning, and ensuring English Learners receive high-quality language instruction aligned with Arizona's Structured English Immersion Model.
- Collaborates with teachers and site administration to analyze student data, facilitate data conversations, and assist with instructional goal setting for the purpose of of informing instructional decisions, improving implementation of Targeted English Language Development instruction, and increasing student achievement.
- Communicates with parents, administrators, and other appropriate personnel regarding student progress, instructional strategies, and language development for the purpose of supporting student achievement and strengthening the home-school partnership.
- Delivers Targeted English Language Development (ELD) instruction to identified English Learner students in accordance with Arizona's Structured English Immersion Model for the purpose of developing English language proficiency and supporting access to grade-level academic content.
- Implements and models highly eGective English Learner instructional strategies during Targeted English Language Development instruction for the purpose of accelerating English language acquisition, increasing student achievement, and supporting student access to grade-level content.
- Maintains instructional records and documentation related to Targeted ELD instruction, lesson planning, and student progress for the purpose of supporting instructional continuity and maintaining accurate classroom records.
- Monitors student progress using formative and summative assessment data for the purpose of adjusting instruction, identifying instructional needs, and supporting English language development.
- Participates in a variety of meetings, trainings, professional learning communities, conferences, and workshops for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Plans and prepares standards-based Targeted ELD lessons aligned to the Arizona English Language Proficiency Standards for the purpose of providing systematic language instruction that meets students' identified proficiency needs.
- Provides instructional support to the EL Specialist through collaborative planning, development of instructional resources, and participation in professional learning activities for the purpose of strengthening implementation of eGective English Learner instructional practices across the district.
- Provides professional learning and instructional resources to teachers in collaboration with the EL Specialist in a variety of settings (e.g. whole-group professional development, grade-level meetings, one-on-one support, etc.) for the purpose of strengthening implementation of eGective English Learner instructional practices and improving student achievement.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. teachers, administrators, parents, district staG, etc.) for the purpose of providing instructional information, classroom support, and/or direction regarding Targeted English Language Development instruction.
- Supports teachers through instructional modeling, facilitative coaching, and classroom-based feedback regarding evidence-based instructional practices for the purpose of strengthening classroom instruction and increasing English Learner student growth.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the eGicient and eGective functioning of the Instructional Services Department.
