The job of Teacher - Elementary is done for the purpose/s of delivering standards-aligned instruction and differentiated learning experiences that meet diverse student needs and promote academic achievement; assessing and monitoring student progress and using data to inform instruction; communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff in support of continuous improvement; fostering a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment; managing student behavior;
supporting students’ social-emotional development; collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and professional staff in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; participating in and collaborating in job-embedded professional learning; using effective teaching practices; and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with school, district, and regulatory requirements.
- Adapts classroom instruction, materials, and assignments for the purpose of providing differentiated learning experiences that address diverse student needs, abilities, and learning styles; and ensuring alignment with established lesson objectives, curriculum standards, and individualized learning plans.
- Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject-specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and progress; using data to inform and adjust instruction; developing individual learning plans; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and students' achievements; developing methods for improvement; and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home
- Collaborates and communicates with instructional staff, counselors, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving overall student outcomes; achieving established classroom objectives; supporting classroom instruction; and ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Coordinates a variety of instructional and extracurricular activities (e.g. field trips, transportation, lesson plans, and classroom resources, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the timely availability of materials, equipment, and personnel necessary to achieve established educational objectives.
- Counsels and supports students for the purpose of improving academic performance, strengthening decision-making and problem-solving, and promoting social-emotional development aligned with age-appropriate
- Demonstrates appropriate instructional methods and strategies for the purpose of effectively delivering classroom or subject-specific content; implementing curriculum and programs; and ensuring the program meets individual student needs.
- Directs and oversees instructional assistants and/or volunteers, as needed, for the purpose of supporting an effective classroom program and meeting the instructional needs of individual students.
- Implements academic and behavior plans (e.g. intervention strategies, behavior support plans, individualized supports, ) for the purpose of delivering an effective and inclusive classroom program; addressing diverse student needs; and promoting academic progress and positive student behavior.
- Manages student behavior, consistently following the school's behavior matrix by addressing behaviors immediately and proactively thus avoiding allowing situations to escape for the purpose of establishing a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment that supports student engagement and academic success.
- Models conversation, academic discussions, listening skills, and other behaviors for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate cognitive, social, and interpersonal behaviors.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, ) for the purpose of ensuring a safe, structured, and positive learning environment that supports student participation in activities.
