Job Overview
Manager of Cost Accounting responsible for inventory and cost accounting, ensuring accurate reporting of Cost of Goods Sold and related accounts. Works closely with Accounting & Reporting team, operational accounting, FP&A, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing. Supports implementation of Net Suite cost accounting module. This is a full‑time hybrid position (3 days a week) located in Somerville – Assembly Row, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities- Account for and support the operational aspects of the inventory cycle, including COGs, Bill of Materials, inventory management & reconciliations, and variances.
- Implement and manage the inventory and COGS modules of Net Suite.
- Improve cost accounting models and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process for costing and inventory modules.
- Generate accurate, timely inventory and costing reports to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the finance team on manufacturing variances, gross margin, and excess/obsolete inventory analysis.
- Review standard costs quarterly.
- Partner with FP&A, technical accounting, and functional business owners on budgeting, forecasting, and reporting actual cost vs. budget and forecasts, and key performance indicators.
- Drive and support internal manufacturing finance controls and processes with continuous improvement methodology.
- Interact with internal & external auditors, providing analyses and audit schedules to ensure compliance.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
- 7+ years of cost accounting experience, with at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Certification in Cost Accounting preferred.
- Experience in cost accounting for biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing, including internal and external manufacturing and testing costs.
- Experience building and leading a cost accounting system in Net Suite.
- Familiarity with Net Suite.
- Excellent business partnership and team development skills.
- Results‑orientation with proven ability to execute collaborative projects and develop subject‑matter expertise.
- Pay range: $121,000—$161,000 USD (base salary).
