The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Manager, Utilities Division and be responsible for all aspects of estimating and tender, including identifying business opportunities and negotiating proposals. Projects will primarily be for Utilities construction but may extend to civil and structural work.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze documents, specifications, proposals in preparation for pricing
- Review project site prior to price preparation
- Obtain input from operations staff
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and incorporate into estimate
- Formulate all costs for tender submission – labour, equipment, material, subcontracts
- Organize and obtain all appropriate bonding and insurance requirements for tenders
- Accountable for the completion and accuracy of tender submissions
- Distribute administrative documentation appropriately upon award of project
- Monitor and provide job cost reports to management on active projects if needed
- Coordinate with Operations staff for the price and reconciliation of changes to the scope of work
- Provide data and input for month-end reconciliations
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects
- Provide technical support to field staff
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with all members of the project team, clients, contractors and consultants
- Minimum 3 years in Project Management or Utility Estimating
- Knowledge of B2W software
- Post secondary education
- Experience in the construction industry. Familiarity with Utilities and Rail corridor construction is preferred
- Able to employ engineering/construction plans/specifications methods and procedures
- Ability to work accurately and under pressure
- Self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills and willing to take on new challenges
- Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication, organizational skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Proficient with MS Office, including MS Project
- Able to establish and maintain good working relationships with many different people including senior managers, clients and field personnel
- Able to problem solve
