• Independently own and execute assigned seasonal apparel product areas, from concept and design direction through development and final product, in partnership with the apparel design, product development, PLM, and cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to the development of four seasonal and carryover apparel ranges per year, helping build cohesive, balanced, and commercially relevant collections.
• Develop and communicate clear design concepts, seasonal stories, and product direction informed by consumer insights, market research, competitive analysis, and trend research.
• Drive the creation of differentiated, desirable, and innovative products that strengthen the category and contribute to the next ICON products.
• Lead the timely and accurate completion of artwork pages, CADs, tech packages, and other design deliverables based on the design time and action calendar.
• Partner with Developers and Sourcing offices to translate design intent into product, leveraging an understanding of source capabilities, flexibility, limitations, fit, function, fabrics, and construction.
• Balance design intent with cost, margin, commercial requirements, and product briefs, making informed design decisions throughout the development process.
• Conduct and apply market, competitor, consumer, price, and trend research to inform design direction and product opportunities.
• Build and present compelling design concepts, seasonal stories, and product presentations to small and large groups, clearly communicating design rationale and product vision.
• Serve as an active design voice in product feedback sessions, confidently communicating recommendations and responding constructively to feedback.
• Take ownership of key meeting tools and design materials, ensuring they are organized, accurate, and presentation-ready.
• Collaborate effectively across design, product development, PLM, sourcing, and other cross-functional partners to move product forward and resolve issues.
• Support a high standard of design execution and contribute to the growth of the broader apparel design team through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and positive team leadership.
• Approximate Travel Required when applicable: 10-15%
• BS/BA or BFA degree in fashion design or related field
• 2+ years of experience as an Apparel Designer, preferably within a performance apparel company, with demonstrated ownership of product from concept through development.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of the sports performance and/or sport lifestyle market, including competition, distribution, price, product, consumer, and retail environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of fabrics, trims, construction, product development, fit, and quality requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to translate consumer, market, and trend insights into compelling product and design concepts.
• Strong presentation, storytelling, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design intent and influence cross-functional partners.
• Strong line merchandising abilities, including the ability to build well-rounded, balanced, and commercially relevant collections.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities at various stages while maintaining a high level of organization, quality, and attention to detail.
