Job DescriptionPosition Summary: The OST Program Helper supports the daily operations of the Out-of-School Time (OST) program. This role assists program staff in providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students through supervision, activity support, and basic classroom tasks.
Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities listed below reflect the primary duties of the position; the omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the role. Additional responsibilities that are similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position may be assigned as needed to meet program, legal, or operational needs.
- Work under the supervision of Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers to support program activities
- Assist with small and large group activities, including games, enrichment, and academic support
- Help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for students
- Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organization of materials
- Support staff in supervising students during program activities
- Follow program expectations and directions from staff
- Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the position as assigned
- Ability to work with children in a positive and respectful manner
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Basic communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Reliability and willingness to learn

Qualifications & Requirements- Current Somerville High School student
- Valid work permit required

Director(s) of the Out-of-School Time (OST) Program, Program Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher (day-to-day supervision)
