The Somerville Public Schools is seeking a candidate to support summer school programming in the Summer Explore program. The Summer Building Substitute/Float Staff will be assigned to a school building for 4 core weeks of summer programming. The right candidate will be flexible, have experience working with youth with diverse backgrounds and needs, and ready to jump in enthusiastically to make sure all kids are safe, engaged, and supported in the various summer programs SPS offers.
Programs range from targeted academic support to STEAM programming, enrichment, and athletics. We will match your specific skills and interests with the right summer programming site. Summer Building substitutes may be required to work in multiple locations depending on need and staffing.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred
- At least 2 years of experience working with youth in a school or community setting is preferred
- Multilingual capacity preferred
- Experience working with youth with special needs strongly preferred
- Bilingual experience preferred
- The ability to manage priorities under changing circumstances and time frames
- Appreciation of cultural difference; commitment to removing barriers to equity, access, and inclusion
