The Summer Scholars Club Director manages and oversees all aspects of the 1st-5th Grade Summer Scholars Club, including Extended Day experiences when applicable, and is charged with impacting the academic success of our students through a rigorous and engaging summer experience.
Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment- Partners with the Campus Principals and K-12 Instructional Leaders to clarify instructional vision, and ensures alignment of daily instruction to this vision
- Supports effective lesson design and ensures access to appropriate instructional resources
- Collaborates with Student Services Director, and SPED teachers to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with special needs during summer program
- Designs and facilitates staff orientation sessions
- Manages assessment and reporting systems and calendars during summer program
- Supports teachers in the implementation of quality learning experiences ensures effective partnership with families in support of learning
- Develops an effective program schedule to ensure appropriate daily schedule for each student
- Conducts frequent informal and formal observations of summer program teachers
- Provides ongoing support, guidance, and high-quality feedback in a timely manner for summer program teachers
- Uses data to inform programmatic decisions and to provide tailored support to staff
- Tracks individual student and faculty progress through close examination of data
- Promotes a culture of ongoing collection and analysis of data
- Ensures families are informed of their student’s goals and progress
- Attends to daily discipline matters and triage, including conducting investigations, coordinating service providers, etc.
- Implements and maintains a restorative summer program culture and discipline program aligned with campus-based practices
- Adheres to PHA Anti-Bullying Policy
- Provides guidance and mentoring for teachers in the area of classroom management
- Communicates in person, on the telephone, and via email with parents/guardians of students who need extra support to be successful
- Facilitates re-entry meetings for students who are suspended from summer program
- Develops and monitors summer program safety and crisis plans
- Approaches relationships with parents/guardians as collaborative and assumes positive intentions in engaging with all families
- Partners with the Campus Principals and K-12 Instructional Leaders to identify and enroll students for summer program
- Partners with ECC Director and Facilities to identify appropriate spaces for the program and ensure the readiness of those spaces for the program start
- Works with the Facilities Manager and school custodians to ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the summer program facility
- Ensure availability and organization of necessary materials
- Manages duties and other professional responsibilities
- Submits well-researched and informed summer program budget proposals and monitors and analyzes spending patterns during summer program

- Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction and the Student Services Director to ensure coherence of summer program vision, program, and approach
