Job Description

Position Summary: The OST Program Helper supports the daily operations of the Out-of-School Time (OST) program. This role assists program staff in providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students through supervision, activity support, and basic classroom tasks.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Work under the supervision of Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers to support program activities
  • Assist with small and large group activities, including games, enrichment, and academic support
  • Help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for students
  • Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organization of materials
  • Support staff in supervising students during program activities
  • Follow program expectations and directions from staff
  • Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the position as assigned
Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills
  • Ability to work with children in a positive and respectful manner
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
  • Basic communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment
  • Reliability and willingness to learn

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Current Somerville High School student
  • Valid work permit required
  • For those Under 18 years old:
    Valid work permit
  • For those 18 years and older:
    Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), if applicable
  • For those 18 years and older:
    Fingerprinting

Director(s) of the Out-of-School Time (OST) Program, Program Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher (day-to-day supervision)
