We are now accepting applications for a Grant Writer & Development Consultant position. The consultant will lead The Welcome Project's grant writing and fundraising efforts, and help us tell our story in a way that advances our mission and educates potential donors and funders about our work.

Volunteer as an ESOL Teacher

The Welcome Project seeks community-based volunteer teachers to teach, co-teach, or assist with an ESOL class. Volunteer teachers spend between 3 to 5 hours in a classroom a week, teaching from a student-centered curriculum focused on immigrant advocacy and developing multilingual skills. Teachers are supported with monthly professional development trainings, classroom observations, and one-on-one guidance from the ESOL Program Coordinator.

Our volunteer teacher program is taught through a pedagogy of popular education. We believe that all community members can take an active role in teaching and learning. Both novice and experienced teachers are welcomed and invited to join us in advocating for the rights of our community.

Volunteer as an ESOL Tutor

The Welcome Project seeks community-based ESOL tutors to support multilingual students in their linguistic goals. As a tutor, you will work one-on-one or with a small group of students to support their specific educational needs. Every partnership is unique. Some students are looking to develop or improve certain skills, such as writing or conversation, while others might want help with their assigned work.

Most tutoring occurs for 1 to 2 hours once a week for at least a 4 month period. Volunteer tutors and their students often meet online or at a free public space like a library.
