Manager of Education for the AMPL Institute

5 days ago Requisition

Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually

Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals and medically tailored groceries to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices.

In the spring of 2025, we launched the AMPL Institute. AMPL, which stands for Access to Medically Tailored Nutrition through Policy and Leadership, is where excellence in providing medically tailored nutrition meets pioneering research, policy work, and provider education. Our mission is to transform the healthcare system so that medically tailored nutrition becomes a universally accessible standard of comprehensive, person-centered care.

The work of the AMPL Institute falls into three pillars:
Research, Policy, and Education.

We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program.

Over the past 36 years, the agency has provided 15M+ free, scratch-made meals.

Summary:

The Manager of Education for the AMPL Institute reports to the Senior Manager of Food and Health Policy and is responsible for the development, delivery, and management of AMPL education and training programs, including developing and refining education curricula, recruiting participants for courses, workshops, and trainings, delivery and teaching of curricula, working with the Senior Research Project Manager to evaluate the programs, and supervising interns and staff as required.

This is a hybrid position, requiring three days weekly onsite at our facility in Jamaica Plain, and two days remote. However, the onsite or on-location requirements will vary based on our educational programming needs. Travel to partnering sites may also be required.

AMPL Education Program

Our Culinary Medicine Program is an evidence-based program that blends the art of food and cooking with the science of medicine. In practice, the program teaches medical and dental students, graduate students matriculating in healthcare-related fields, and healthcare professionals foundational nutrition concepts and how to prepare meals for the prevention and treatment of diet-related illnesses. Our 8-week Culinary Medicine Course is an accredited graduate-level course at the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy as is offered each fall and spring semester.

Examples of Community Servings’ Program-Based Education Programs

Community Servings offers educational programming to our clients, the community, and to emerging and existing health care partners. We have developed (and continue to build) a robust video library of nutrition educational programming led by our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) through Learning Kitchen Live. The videos are currently available through our You Tube channel.
