Role DescriptionForm Energy is hiring a Staff Battery Engineer to design and validate Form Energy s iron electrode. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Anode Engineering. You will design, mechanistically understand, test, and create specifications for Form Energy s breakthrough iron electrode in partnership with the Manufacturing, Test Execution, and Cell Design teams. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and a strong mission.
Whatyou ll do
- Prioritize safety as you carry out the entire electrochemical testing and battery operation process, from design to implementation and post-test investigation.
- Design, execute, and interpret anode electrochemical tests in large- and lab-scale test vehicles in collaboration with the test execution team.
- Own, perform, and thoroughly document root cause analyses to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
- Define electrode product specifications and inspection methods to ensure product quality.
- Interpret pre/post-test electrode physical characterization in collaboration with internal material experts and external vendors.
- Mentor, guide, and support team members with your expertise and practical experience.
- Bachelor or Master s degree in chemistry, materials engineering or related field with 7+ years of industry experience in testing and evaluating electrochemical systems OR PhD with 2+ years of industry experience.
- Expertise with failure prediction and investigation methods, such as root cause analysis and failure modes and effects analysis.
- Hands-on practical experience with electrochemical systems and electrochemical device data interpretation, particularly in deployed or market-ready products.
- Statistical experimental design and data evaluation skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, including working with teams in different locations on shared objectives.
- Ability to travel up to 25% to other Form Energy sites and suppliers.

Compensation Range: $147,959 - $184,966
