Position Overview:
We're hiring a Principal Applications Engineer to help commercialize next-generation Vertical GaN power devices (100 V - 2300 V) by translating device performance into system-level wins for customers. This role blends customer facing technical leadership, hands-on power converter evaluation, simulation/model development, and bench characterization of fast-switching wide bandgap devices. The role offers significant ownership of customer technical engagement, and the development of evaluation hardware, reference designs, and technical content (application notes, trainings, demos).
As the company scales, this position has the strong potential to evolve into a team leadership role.
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead customer-facing technical engagement, including simulations, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- Develop and own SPICE and/or PLECS simulation models and reusable system-level solution templates
- Drive creation of evaluation boards, demo hardware, and reference designs from schematic and layout through bring-up and characterization
- Perform hands-on system-level and high-voltage wide bandgap device bench testing and debug
- Produce application notes, design guides, trainings, and technical demos to enable customer adoption
- Provide structured customer and application feedback to Device Engineering and Product teams to influence roadmap and features

- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics) or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years in power semiconductor applications engineering and/or power converter/system development
- Strong experience designing and delivering power converters (e.g., inverters, PFC, isolated DC-DC) and reference designs
- Proven hands-on bench characterization of high-voltage, high-current wide bandgap devices (GaN and/or SiC)
- Deep understanding of high-frequency power design, including switching losses, parasitics, gate drive, magnetics, and EMI
- Proficiency with SPICE and/or PLECS for parasitic-aware system modeling and evaluation
- Excellent technical communication skills with confidence in customer-facing technical leadership
