We are seeking an impact-driven Founding Battery Engineer or Scientist to lead our technical execution. In this role, you will be a core architect of our technology, not just an employee. Working in close partnership with our technical CEO, you will build our engineering team from the ground up and lead the technical development of our next-generation cell technology.

Based at Greentown Labs in Somerville, we are on a mission to build prototypes in close collaboration with our customers.

• Lead cell development from lab-scale experiments through prototype validation
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments across electrodes, electrolytes, and full cells
• Establish and scale new R&D capabilities, including equipment, workflows, and SOPs
• Translate experimental data into actionable insights and development decisions

• Hands-on experience in slurry preparation, electrode casting, and process optimization (doctor blade, slot-die coating)
• Proven experience in cell prototyping, including coin and pouch cells, and systematic component de-risking
• Strong background in electrolyte optimization, including rational formulation design and familiarity with screening, characterization, and testing methodologies
• Expertise in cell data analysis and data aggregation to drive evidence-based decision-making.
• Experience in setting up new development facilities, installing equipment, and defining lab workflows and SOPs

• Passionate battery technologist with strong intrinsic motivation and ambition
• Ownership-driven mindset; comfortable taking responsibility for end-to-end processes
• Fast learner who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced, and ambiguous environments
• Execution focus; able to manage multiple priorities and deliver measurable results on short timelines

• Experience with scale-up beyond lab scale and contract manufacturing
• Prior experience in a fast-paced startup or early-stage R&D environment
• Professional proficiency in Korean
• Track record of grant or scientific publication writing; prior success in securing funding
