SWA is expanding its commissioning and energy services in Massachusetts. We are seeking a senior technical leader who can independently represent SWA with clients, lead new construction commissioning work, and help shape and grow our Boston-area practice. This is not solely a project management role: the successful candidate will combine deep building-systems expertise with clear communication, sound judgment, and the initiative to turn opportunities into well-defined, successfully delivered projects.
The proposed annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $150,000 based on a 40-hour work schedule. The final salary may vary depending on confirmed job-related skills and experience.
- Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications should expect compensation toward the lower end of the range.
- Candidates with qualifications and experience beyond the requirements of the role may be considered for compensation above the posted range.
- Serve as a senior technical and client-facing lead for commissioning and decarbonization projects in Massachusetts, clearly communicating SWA's capabilities, recommending practical paths forward, and aligning teams on decisions and next steps.
- Lead project scoping, fee development, proposal writing, staffing plans, and go/no-go recommendations for commissioning and energy opportunities.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, resources, deliverables, and client expectations across multiple concurrent projects while maintaining technical quality and financial performance.
- Lead new construction and existing building commissioning projects from design through occupancy and warranty, including review of the Owner's Project Requirements and Basis of Design; design and submittal reviews; commissioning plans and specifications; construction observations; functional performance testing; issue resolution; and final reporting.
- Lead building and portfolio level existing building evaluations to provide recommendations that reduce operational carbon and improve indoor air quality, maintainability, and operational effectiveness.
- Translate complex technical findings into concise, useful recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support the growth and technical development of junior staff through mentorship, training, and collaborative project work.
- Represent SWA through participation in industry groups, technical committees, professional associations, and external training or educational initiatives.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to type, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to climb stairs, use elevators and exterior construction hoists, and may be exposed to cold and hot interior and exterior temperatures for extended periods of time (when in the field).
TravelRequirements
Occasional overnight travel may be required (Less than 25%). Frequent local field visits in the Boston Metro area will be necessary (approximately 40-50%).
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
Recent hires may be required to work in-office five days per week during onboarding, with potential for a flexible schedule after necessary training and supervisor approval; all team members are expected in the office at least three days per week, with flexibility based on site work.
