Box Truck Driver - Transportation Associate

United States, Massachusetts, Somerville

M-F 2:00pm-11:00pm 40 hrs / week

Experience driving a small truck or box truck required. NO CDL license is required.

Responsible for the safe, efficient, and courteous transportation of patients within the hospital premises. This role ensures that patients are transported to and from various departments in a manner that prioritizes their comfort and safety.

Safely transport patients using hospital-provided wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds to designated departments or locations.

  • Assist patients with boarding and disembarking as needed, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Interact with patients and their families in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Address patient concerns or needs promptly and respectfully.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient transport needs.
  • Report any changes in the patient's condition or concerns to the appropriate medical personnel.
Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes.

Licenses and Credentials

Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License].

Experience

Experience in a healthcare or customer service role 1-2 years preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to handle patients with care, demonstrating empathy and patience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver patients and equipment safely.

Candidates will need to obtain a medical card through Occupational Health upon hire and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
