Pathology Laboratory Assistant II

Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of patient specimens, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone. • Assist with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens.
• Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately.
• Monitor reagent and supply inventory.
• Organize patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review.
• Use LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment.
• Rotate chemicals in all stainers and processors
• Stock lab supplies and track inventory
• Other lab related duties as needed

Qualifications Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required

• Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital.
• Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands.
• Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
