Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restore patient physical functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment goals and plans; administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and in using assistive and supportive devices. Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required. For licensure prior to 2016, a bachelor’s or master’s degree is acceptable;
licensure from 2016 onward requires completion of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.
- Complete billing sheet accurately by end of day.
- Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Perform patient assessment and establish a plan of care.
- Provide in‑service education programs for nursing personnel as needed.
- Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
- Discuss evaluation, goals and treatment with both patient and family.
- Participate in hospital‑wide quality process improvement.
- Supervise PTAs according to organization policy and state regulations.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy required;
Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy preferred;
Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred. Role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.
- Physical Therapist [State License]
- Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver’s License preferred
Experience completing internship or apprenticeship program 1‑2 years preferred.
