Our engineers play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of systems that support millions of patient interactions each year.
The Systems Engineer II - Epic ODBA is responsible for managing the enterprise Epic EHR database environments at Mass General Brigham. The Engineer provides ongoing support including building, upgrading, patching and extensive monitoring.
The Epic ODBA will ensure stability, performance and high availability of these critical systems.
Qualifications What You'll DoManage and support Epic ODB environments, including installations, configurations, upgrades, and patching
Perform IRIS database administration and support enterprise Epic infrastructure
Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance while supporting capacity planning efforts
Partner with Epic application, infrastructure, and operations teams to maintain a highly available environment
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement scalable solutions
Support ongoing modernization initiatives, including cloud and platform engineering efforts
What We're Looking For Bachelor's Degree required
This role can review and consider experience in lieu of a degree
Epic ODBA certification
Preferred Experience administering enterprise systems and platform
Experience administering and supporting enterprise Epic environments
Strong knowledge of Epic infrastructure, ODB management, upgrades, and patching
Experience with system performance analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
Preferred Qualifications Strong Inter Systems IRIS database administration expertiseUNIX/Linux system administration and scripting experience
Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Experience with Epic Chronicles, Data Courier, and related Epic technologies
Passion for solving complex technical challenges in a mission-driven healthcare environment
Skills For Success Ability to manage Epic ODB environments including installations, configurations, upgrades and patchingIRIS database administration expertise strongly preferred
Experience in system performance analysis and capacity planning
Experience and knowledge of UNIX/Linux system administration and scripting preferred
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Familiarity with Epic Chronicles, Data Courier and other Epic applications preferred
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex system and application issues.
Understanding of system security concepts and the implementation of security-leading practices.
Excellent reasoning and analytic skills in a time critical/mission critical problem-solving operation. Excellent presentation skills
Ability to lead discussions on specific technical topics
Excellence at prioritizing work and tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical people.

Working Model RequirementsM-F Eastern Business Hours Full Time required
Hybrid model includes in person onsite work at MGB local sites, weekly or monthly, to be determined based on business needs
Must be flexible for 1x weekly or 2x monthly at least, for in person stakeholder meetings, team meetings and internal customer needs
On remote workdays, employees must use a stable, secure, and compliant workstation in a quiet environment. Teams video is required and must be accessed using MGB-provided equipment
